Mercedes is pushing autonomous driving to public buses.
The newest line of bus, called the Future Bus, recently passed a major milestone by driving autonomously on the streets of Amsterdam for 12 miles without an accident. It cruised at a safe speed of 43 miles/hour.
The bus drove on the Airport Line 300, Europe’s longest Bus Rapid Transit line, a specialized road made for public transportation. The line connects The city of Haarlem and metropolitan Amsterdam.
The autonomous bus was guided its dozen cameras, which surrounds the bus and can detect obstacles as well as traffic signals.
