If you had enough patience to drag yourself through over 1,000 pages of Don Quixote, you’re in the rare breed of readers. The rest of us need a little bit of help, especially because of the sheer quantity of good classics out there to be read.

Artist John Atkins illustrated two cartoons that summarize some of the best English classics in humorous one-liners. These are perfect for lazy readers.

You don’t have to feel bad about skimming the books. John told Bit of News that he hasn’t read many of the classics as well. “I’ve read several of them, but I’d be lying if I said I’ve read them all. I’ve tried to read Ulysses about ten times but never seem to be able to get through it.”

John also said he doesn’t believe in inspirations, because he doesn’t think the best ideas come from “thinking way too much about certain things and trying to resolve them in your head.”

“I don’t have any special routine, but I do quite often wake up in the middle of the night and jot stuff down.”
