In 2012, Gunnar Garfors traveled to 5 countries on 5 continents in just one day, a new Guiness World Record.

He didn’t stop there. The globetrotter went on to visit every single country – all 198. And he did it at age 37, another new world record.

He published a book last year called 198: How I Ran Out of Countries last year detailing his globetrotting.

Garfors also maintained his job while traveling, writing for outlets such as Business Insider and the Japanese newspaper Mainichi, and running a a digital radio and mobile TV organization called IDAG.

Here are some of his best photos on his trip:

Europe

Garfors starts out his journey from the beautiful Norway, where he’s from. Here’s a he took across the fjord to the log cabin built by him and his brother.

And finally… reaching 198 countries is absolutely no small feat. On reaching his final destination, a well deserved celebration
